Welcoming our new Miniature Highland Cattle

Welcoming our new Miniature Highland Cattle

Last month we hauled 1,480 miles to pick up the newest additions to English Rose Farm. We had been talking about expanding our herd of miniature highland cattle for a while and couldn't resist the trip when we saw Chyenne and Pecos. We drove from Northern Colorado to Eastern Oklahoma and back in about 23 hours, it took a lot of coffee, the two cattle rode back with us with ease and unloaded into their new home stress-free.

They got to have their own space to settle down in and to take in their new surroundings, also introducing themselves to our other livestock gradually through the fences. We got to have individual time with them each to allow them to get to know us and for us to get to know them.

Chyenne is a silver registered miniature highland heifer about a year old. With beautiful conformation and a very correct head shape. She has a very playful and curious personality; she's always checking out what's going on. Chyenne was definitely shy towards us at first, but she has made strides since her arrival with the help of our grain mix. We are beyond excited for her future in our breeding program.

Pecos is a dun registered micro-miniature highland bull just under a year old. He has a very sweet personality and good disposition. Pecos is currently to young to prove himself as a breeder, his full brother has very successfully thrown silver micro-miniature calves. So with quality genetics on his side, we are excited for the future this handsome little guy holds as a breeding bull.
